Reckoning Groundwater Quality and Hydrogeochemical Processes for Drinking and Irrigation Purposes under the Influence of Anthropogenic Activities, North India

The present study was carried out near an industrial area with a high-density urban population and large-scale agricultural activities. These anthropogenic activities lead to groundwater pollution depletion of the water table. This attempted classify sources hydrochemical facies that help ensure suitability for agriculture drinking. Irrigation indexes, quality index (WQI), principal component analysis (PCA), hierarchical cluster (HCA) were applied twenty-six samples analysed during May 2018 major cations anion concentrations. results revealed mechanism chemistry has been controlled by evaporation process dominance viz., Ca-Mg-HCO3, Na-K-Cl-SO4, Ca-Mg-Cl, Na-K-HCO3. mean dominant concentration is in order Ca2+ > Na+ Mg2+ K+ while anions are HCO3− SO4− Cl− NO3− CO32− F−. indexes indicated high saline low medium alkali hazards due PCA HCA also recognized most variations elucidated processes, predominantly excessive population, emissions, Further, WQI suggested 15% unsuitable, 69% poor, remaining 16% only suitable drinking purposes. article helps understand processes irrigation drinking, which will policymakers supply planning management.
